Hi, I'm Josiah Jackson, also known as The Piano Doctor. I'm 20 years old, and being so young, one of the most common questions I get asked from my customers is "How did you get into tuning pianos?"

​Well, I grew up playing an electric keyboard. I played around 4-5 hours some days, and all I ever wanted was an acoustic piano. It's what all the pro's used after all. When my parents finally allowed me to upgrade from the keyboard, I snatched up the first used piano I could find. However, when we first got the piano, it was underwhelming to say the least.

 

Many of the notes were out of tune, a few keys got stuck, or they just didn't play right. Suddenly, I didn't enjoy practicing anymore. I knew how amazing pianos could sound, but this one just wasn't fun to play. If I ever wanted to stick with practicing piano, I had to fix this problem. And I knew there must be others out there who had the same problem as well.

I called a local technician, and he graciously agreed to mentor me. Since then, I've become fully involved in the piano technician world. I've attended national "PTG" meetings to learn from the best tuners in the world, learned from books and videos, and participated in hands on training. Needless to say, after bringing out the best in my own instrument, I love playing my home piano! Now my goal is to bring that same enjoyment of the piano into your home (or business) as well.
